Drive-by Karahi King

Just a quick note; hidden in the Brookfield Plaza shopping center on Trowbridge is a new Pakistani and Indian restaurant called Karahi King. They are around the corner from Woody's Oasis, and behind Korean House - where there used to be a calzone place.

A friend stopped by tonight and reports that they have really great Naan (the flat, buttery Indian bread that goes so well with curries and things) and their Dal (lentils) is thick with greens and garlic and very very filling. The meats were apparently also good, but she spent so much time raving over the naan and dal that I didn't get a detailed report.

They are open from 11am to 11pm. More info coming as soon as I get it.

(NOTE: as the comments have pointed out - this place is still going through an uneven opening period. Sometimes great, sometimes not so much. They have, however, simplified their menu, and that should help them find their stride.)

I purchased take out from this restaurant (not a phone order, but in-store order). The naan bread was good, but I am disappointed to say the rest of the food was all room temperature, cool, or slightly warm. All of it came from containers sitting out in their apparently not heated or refrigerated food case so we threw it all out at home once realizing this.

They also charged us for one dish that they did not include in the take-out order. We were the only customers so there was no excuse for this mistake.

I wish I could say something positive about this restaurant, the food smelled good, but food safety and correctly putting together an order is important to me

Food is priced too high.To run long and survive in competition, increase quantity ,quality and taste of food and reduce prices.

Just went last night. Me and my sister split the dinner combo which had 2 dishes and some rice. The dishes were good, with a good amount of spice.

The oven was broken which was weird, but they got it working in time to get the order of na'an in. your friend is absolutely right. the na'an was rediculous, kill-your-mother good.

i'd go back if nothing else than to watch the bollywood music videos and eat/cover myself in the bread.

its a small place.good authentic pakistani food.rich in ghee. prices are expensive for the small quantity portion served. best option is to take it home and heat it up once again.

I just discovered your blog through a search on google and so appreciate your input on food places in town. Being Pakistani this place in particular stood out and I will definitely be checking it out soon. God bless!

I think the food is pretty good. A little on the pricey side, though. I think they should definitely keep the food a proper temperatures, often just luke-warm. I'd frequent them more often, but the 4 times I've been in there, I often got the feeling they didn't want me in there and would have been happy if I'd just hurry up and leave. Not the most hospitable eatery...
